POLITICS: SOMETIMES IT CAN MAKE YA FEEL ALONE
One of my favorite races was Bill Clinton while I didn't trust
him that much I knew that more of my friends dying from HIV
would have better care and would live longer than under the
prior administrations. We were proven right the number of
funerals diminished, but then again so were the numbers of
friends in my address book. It was a very bad time and I
lost a lot of wonderful people. Now we have Curious George
in charge. Oh well!
Gee it's 1972 its hard
to believe you could actually have the entire third grade yelling
at you just you supported McGovern for president. Well that didn't
win me any popularity contests in the third grade, but then again
wearing tights for ballet class under my street cloths wasn't
so bright especially if ya have to undress for gym later in the
day.
POLITICS: WHEN YOUR A "D" STUDENT
It's 1980 and working for Ted Kennedy for president was like the
coolest thing to do in a republican town. Imagine phone banking
all of your conservative teachers asking them how are they going
to vote, and they tell ya "I'll vote for Kennedy when you
get straight A's"....ugghgghh!
POLITCS: IN THE MONASTERY (THE ELECTORAL ONES)
Now Jesse Jackson, Oh yeah supporting this guy for president brought
me lot's of friends in the monastery. The monks were not exactly
thrilled with my dinner time discussions about this guy. During
my years in the labor movement Jesse was one of the few national
leaders talking about what was in the best interests of the everyday
worker. PLus my older brother was one of his speech writers,
no..he did not write Jesse's anti-Semitic remark about NY, Jesse
did that all on his own, to the chagrin of all of his followers.
What a stupid asinine thing for him to have done.
